The Corner Pocket – March 2010
The first Terminal City Club snooker tournament of 2010 was held on February 11 – the Doubles HandicapTournament. Doubles tournaments at TCC are a great way to get to know your fellow snooker-playing members, because teams are formed by a draw that randomly pairs a high handicap player with a low handicap player.
A late withdrawal saw five teams (ten members) competing for top honours, including two of our regular women snooker players, Beverley Liew and Joanna Kan (not on the same team). After the preliminary round, three teams were tied for second! Rick Duncan and Ted Wormworth relaxed while waiting to see who would emerge from the playoff round to challenge them for the championship. Lynn Patterson and Victor Holysh fought their way into the finals, but clearly the effort exhausted them and they fell to the new TCC Doubles Handicap Champions, Ted and Rick. Congratulations, gentlemen! And thank you to all participants for a great tournament!
The next Club tournament is the 2010 TCC Singles Handicap, on Thursday, March 25. A sign up sheet has been posted in the Billiards Room, or interested members may register online.
